ELLA WATSON-HEATH

Choreography, performance, advocacy and mentorship
Ella Watson-Heath is a dance artist born and raised on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar (Perth/Boorloo) and is currently based on Gadigal land (Sydney). Her multifaceted practice spans performance, choreography, and improvisation, often investigating the relationship between movement and digital interfaces.
Ella serves as a Co-Artistic Director of Dance Makers Collective (DMC), an organisation she has been deeply involved with since joining their Future Makers youth company in 2019. She is a dedicated advocate for the arts, holding elected positions on the MEAA National Performers Committee and Federal Council, and representing the sector on the Create NSW Dance & Physical Theatre artform board. She is also an inaugural member of the NSW State Government Creative Youth Network.
Her recent performance credits include All In for the 2025 Sydney Festival and an ongoing collaboration with Alice Weber on the intermedial work Dream Cellscapes at Dancehouse. As a choreographer, she recently developed and presented STILL FALL at The Lab @ UNSW x Sydney Fringe Festival.
Ella’s professional discipline was established during her formative years with STEPS Youth Dance Company. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), which included an international exchange to Purchase College, SUNY. In addition to her creative and advocacy work, she shares her expertise as a Sessional Trainer in Contemporary Release and Choreographic Process at NAISDA Dance College.
